Spring ArtWalk

Find out what the buzz is all about in Ventura -California’s New Art City. During ArtWalk streets and businesses come alive with art and performances.
See artists in action during this self-guided tour of over 200 fine art exhibits in over 60 venues in Ventura’s Downtown & Westside—stone sculptors, glass blowers and painting demonstrations, plus mixed media installations, digital art presentation, photography and a variety of green art displays. Zoey’s Café and Instrumental Music present two stages of live instrumental and vocal music. Meet Featured Artist Catherine Day Barroca and get your ArtWalk poster featuring her work “Longevity” signed. Check the exhibit and entertainment page for full line up.
WAV Dedication 6-7 pm
Celebrate this exciting new state-of-the-art sustainable arts community, opened in December, with all the WAV artists, project developer, City of Ventura staff and everyone else who made this project possible at this public dedication ceremony. Stay for a cirque performance by Project Bandaloop. 175 S. Ventura Ave.
Throughout the weekend explore this complex of 60 artist live/work spaces and enjoy performances at its theater/gallery. Watch out for impromptu art on the corner of Ventura Avenue and Thompson Boulevard.

After the WAV dedication, witness an off-the-wall cirque performance—on the exterior of WAV—by this international group that has pioneered, since 1991, this dynamic dance form that reframes how people perceive their environments, whether it be natural or urban settings. http://projectbandaloop.org/
Ventura County Storytelling Guild 7-9 pm
Storytellers from the Ventura County Storytelling Guild and visiting voices will perform green tales from around the world as well as personal stories as a finale to their 27th Annual Storytelling Swap. Suitable for ages 5 and up. City Hall Atrium.

ArtWalk 12-5 pm
Enjoy ArtWalk at a more relaxed pace, when the crowds are fewer—a great chance to talk to artists and catch up on those exhibits you missed on Saturday as the self-guided tour of over 200 artists at 60 venues continues.
